Be Here Wow. Icebox Gallery. Time Camp 001. Creative Director/Co-Producer, 2017.
Be Here WOW, an experiment in transmedia mediation was a collaboratively produced installation created for the ‘Time Camp 001’ exhibition, curated by the The AfroFuturist Affair in collaboration with Icebox Project Space. Time Camp 001 was a two-day program and interactive installation exploring time, alternative temporalities, time travel, and temporal shifts that took place September 30-Oct 1, 2017 at Icebox Project Space (Philadelphia, PA).
We asked artists to contribute 2 minute Guided Meditations with the following prompt:
What is a guided meditation? It’s an opportunity to share words of inspiration and contemplation- an offering to a stranger, something they can carry throughout the day and on into the future.... think of it as : a pep talk for your soul and spirit. We are undertaking this collaborative project at a critical moment for our species and our civilization. Through history we’ve seen examples of human resilience and adaptability. We are capable of building better futures and changing the course of time. Projection and guided meditation can serve as a psychic fast-track to our collective consciousness: a deep awareness of self as past, present and future. We all carry this power within ourselves and we are inviting you into this process, to collectively inspire and create new futures together.
Meditations were paired with images and projected within an immersive mobile installation. Following the exhibit, the project will live online as an interactive media project.
